Transportation, Distribution and Logistics Employers
Companies in transportation, distribution, and logistics (TDL) sectors face complex workforce challenges in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.
Apprenticeship is A proven solution for recruiting, training, and retaining world-class transportation talent.
FASTPORT has the directly applicable and relevant corporate experience to ensure the grant is successful during and after its period of performance. We have provided an efficient, guided process for employers to utilize work-based learning models to fit their business, models that facilitate an exponential growth of the number of apprentices since 2016, and continue to achieve impactful results for the DOL.
For example, we have enrolled over 14,000 new apprentices into RAPs with 80% DEIA representation and a 54% Veteran population. Our experience in developing RAs has facilitated the creation of DOL apprenticeship programs for 44 organizations encompassing 18 occupations serving TDL. These apprenticeship programs have been developed with industry organizations and employers. We have also assisted more than 100 employers in the development of National or local Registered Apprenticeship standards that have yet to be submitted for DOL approval.
Employer Steps
1️⃣ Work with Our Industry Intermediary
Once you express your interest in a Registered Apprenticeship to help fulfill your workforce demands, you will be connected directly with your Industry Apprenticeship Intermediary (FASTPORT, Inc.) to explore how apprenticeships will work within your business model.
2️⃣ Determine Your company Requirements
With our assistance, you will submit your minimum requirements for hire, minimum wage progression, and additional work processes (e.g.) probationary periods. You can use our provided template and modify it based on your needs.
3️⃣ ESTABLISH YOUR APPRENTICESHIP
After you finalize your requirements and agree to participate as an apprenticeship Employer Partner participating in the National Standard set forth by the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) for your apprentice occupation(s), your program will be registered and recognized by the DOL.
4️⃣ BEGIN YOUR ONBOARDING PROCESS
Once your program is registered, you will receive your Welcome Packet which includes information on apprenticeship funding opportunities, the monthly housing allowance (MHA) process, and how to track and report your candidate hires by completing form ETA 671.
5️⃣ Hire Apprentices
As a fully registered employer partner, you will be able to bring new apprentices into your program, including those that already work for you and you’d like to upskill into high-demand roles.
